Life Without Limits offers pre-vocational training to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which takes place in the community and is provided with basic training and support, allowing clients to choose their own employment options.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Credentials: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with an AB Specialty, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with an OB/GYN Specialty

• Workforce Training - Healthcare

The program is designed to prepare the graduate to become skilled entry-level ultrasound technicians with basic principles in Abdomen, OB/GYN and Vascular Sonography. This training program includes theory, laboratory and clinical externship courses. Upon graduation, students are eligible to sit for the Abdomen (AB) and/or Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) specialty examinations through the ARDMS. Prospective students are encouraged to contact ARDMS directly to regarding certification requirements.

Cardiovascular Technology

Credentials: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)

The Cardiovascular Technology program is programmatically accredited by CAAHEP for the the Adult Echocardiography and Noninvasive Vascular Study concentrations. Enrolling students need to refer to credentialing agency requirements in order to check credentialing exam eligibility. The program is designed to prepare the graduate to become skilled entry-level cardiovascular technicians, and work effectively in the health care environment. It includes well balanced on-campus classroom hours, on-campus (work-simulated) imaging laboratory component, off-campus integrated patient care clinical experience and clinical externship. Clinical sites include hospitals, imaging centers and doctor’s offices.

Surgical Technology

Credentials: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

The Surgical Technology Program at Medical Career Institute is accredited through the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Students are trained to become multi-faceted members of the surgical team to work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other surgical personnel delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgical procedures. The program includes well balanced on-campus time for lectures and demonstrations and on-campus (work-simulated) operating room laboratory for mock practice surgical procedures, proper scrub area and storage area. The off-campus Clinical Externship module of the curriculum is structured to include supervised hands-on training (requiring competencies logs and evaluations) at clinical externship sites such us hospitals, outpatient surgical centers, and endoscopy/colonoscopy clinics.

Sterile Processing Technology

Credentials: Registered Certified Central Processing Technician

The Sterile Processing program at Medical Career Institute is based on The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) training requirements and complies with its policies and procedures in preparing students for the certification exam mandated in the State of New Jersey by Department of Health and Senior Services in order to enter the profession. The program prepares graduates to work as a skilled Registered Central Service Technician in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and endoscopy colonoscopy clinics. Essential functions of a Registered Central Service Technician is; to sterilize, package, test and operate medical equipment and surgical instruments, stock and maintain equipment processing rooms, prepare surgical carts with surgical supplies and instrument trays as well as prepare and maintain records and logs associated with medical instruments and equipment.

Medical Assistant

Credentials: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

The program includes a well-balanced on-campus time for lectures and demonstrations and work-simulated lab which imitates a doctor's exam room, phlebotomy lab and EKG lab. The off-campus clinical externship module of the program is structured to include supervised hands-on training at a doctor's office, clinical or a health care center. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to s'it for the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Certified Medical Assistant examination and are awarded a Certificate of Completion. The program has applied for accreditation through the Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools (ASHES). Once the program is granted approval, graduates will be eligible to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) examination.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Students will attend 90 hours of training consisting of fifty (50) hours of classroom instruction and fourty (40) hours of hands on clinical experience in a long-term care facility. Successful completion of a New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services approved training program provides the student with the opportunity to qualify to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and become gainfully employed in the long term care industry.

Certified Home Health Aide

Credentials: Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA)

The 76 Hour Certified Home Health Aide Training course follows the New Jersey Board of Nursing curriculum. Student will cover topics including the roles and responsibilities of the caregiver, safety, communication, the basics of nursing. They will also learn and be able to successfully demonstrate technical and clinical skills in the laboratory and patient care setting. Upon completion of the program, the students application will be sent to the Board of Nursing for approval and certification.

Those who currently hold a valid CNA certification may enroll in the 10- Hour Bridge course. This course was designed by the NJ Board of Nursing to provide training in Home Health Care to caretakers transferring from another setting.

Summer Youth Program

The Summer Youth Program offers: -Work between 160-200 hours for the program earning at minimum $16.00 an hour -Learn how to complete job applications -Engage in your community -Find Mentors -Prepare for a future career -Gain valuable work experience The program invites local businesses to collaborate to provide a work experience for youth between the ages of 16 to 24 during the summer. The requirements are: -You HIRE THEM, the Division of Workforce Development reimburses 100% at a maximum amount of $3,200.00 -They must work a minimum of 160 hours and up to a maximum of 200 hours during the program -Youth must be paid a minimum of $16.00 per hour -Must be between 16 to 24 years of age -Youth must be a resident of Monmouth County.

HVAC-R Division Apprenticeship

Credentials: Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification, OSHA 30

• Apprenticeship - Construction/Utilities

The five-year apprenticeship period is divided into one year segments, each of which includes a minimum of 1,800 hours of on the job training and 200 hours related classroom/shop instruction. That equates to 9000 hours of on the job training and 1000 hours of related classroom/shop instruction. UANJ apprentices attend school for classroom, computer and shop instruction for a full eight hour day every two weeks, and work for a signatory HVACR contractor for on the job training the other nine days. There are over 180 Union HVACR Contractors in the UANJ jurisdiction. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive 32 college credits, a diploma from the NJ Dept. of Labor and the United Association, Universal CFC certification, OSHA 30 training, UA STAR HVACR Mastery certificate as well as various other certificates pertaining to the trade.
