IBEW Local 164 offers a five-year apprenticeship training program that is administered jointly with the Bergen-Essex-Hudson Division of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). Electrical apprentices in Local 164 attend school during the day on a full time, paid basis, with instruction provided by a staff of full time paid professional instructors. To achieve Journeyman status, all five years must be successfully completed, as well as satisfactory performance on the rigorous final apprenticeship examination.
